Joan purchased Carol's Design House in 1990. During the years since the acquisition, she has expanded the business in employees, volume of sales, product lines, and geographical area. Joan specializes in construction consulting, emphasizing full-scope interior and exterior materials selection, original design of building components, and project management. Joan has fulfilled interior design as well as general contractor rolls on remodeling projects as well as new construction projects.
Joan was a founding board member of Interior Designer’s of Idaho and a current affiliate member of Building Contractor’s Association of Southern Idaho. She has served on a number of local boards, including Junior Achievement and Capital Matrix. Joan is an avid supporter of the Idaho Humane Society as well as many other valued charitable organizations.
An Idaho native, she obtained a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Accounting. She has lived in Boise since 1980 and most recently completed a vacation home in Mc Call. After a number of years with a commercial real estate development and commercial construction company, it became obvious an improved career choice was in interior design. However, the accounting background has proved invaluable in construction project management and successful small business survival skills.
Outside interests include mountain biking, climbing, road biking, dirt biking, skiing, hiking, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, landscaping, and best of all…time with her best buddy, an Australian Shepherd named Kiah. Recent accomplishments include summits on Mt. Rainier and Mt. Borah.
Joan’s diverse background brings insights and skills to projects that are truly unique. Her love of construction is evident in the quality, diversity and creativity evidenced in her finished residences.
