The Design Process
Our designers know how to help navigate you through the entire design process. We recognize that you are the other member of the design team and we provide the guidance and the resources to incorporate your individual taste, needs and lifestyle to the finished project. We carefully take you through each facet of the process one step at a time.
The first step is to gather information about the look and feel you want to create. Your designer will ask you questions about how you envision using the space, what existing furnishings need to be integrated into the scheme and what design challenges you’ve come across. All of this provides direction for the new design. The exchange of ideas and open communication is key to attaining the environment you desire. This is also a good time to discuss your budget and completion date.
Step two of the process is for your designer to evaluate the information received, the space discussed and prepares to create a concept that meets your functional and aesthetic needs. A preliminary design is pulled together combining materials, finishes, furnishings, lighting and space planning and ideas. Basic layouts of the contributed ideas are reviewed. Advice pertaining to the traffic flow and circulation is addressed in relation to the needs and goals discussed. The original ideas and concerns are revisited to ensure that every element is included.
When you feel assured that the design concept relates to your unique preferences, then the process moves to a new phase. Your designer utilizes and specialized knowledge and experience attained through the years to refine the assorted ideas and to find a balanced combination that incorporates all of the important elements for your new environment. Sketches, plans and materials are presented for your final approval.
The next step coordinates all the design decisions into action. Collaboration with professionals in the electrical, mechanical and engineering areas takes place to discuss details and schedules. Documents to proceed are drawn up as contracts and purchase orders. Your designer is also an efficient project manager that has the training to monitor the contractors involved, set expectations and foresee problems ahead. Following up on furniture orders and making site visits keeps the project progressing smoothly. During the entire process your designer will keep you informed. In this final phase a punch list is made and checked off as each item is completed to your satisfaction. Furniture and accessories are delivered and the vision you had now takes shape.
Working with one of our designers will be an enjoyable experience that can bring your dreams to life. We can help you establish a budget and translate your ideas into a beautiful space that combines a balance of form, scale and proportion. We can help you avoid costly mistakes and items of poor quality. We look forward to helping you capture your style.
