"I have four loves that span half my lifetime, and one of those passions is interior design," says Sondra Hansen, a designer with Carols Design House, "…and it shows no sign of abating!"
"Interpreting a client’s identity through color, form and function is a continual delight for me," says Sondra, whose 15 year career with Carols Design House was recently intercepted with a two year hiatus in Africa, where she and her husband John served as missionaries and traveled in 16 countries. Sondra now spends her time between Boise and Eden Valley, Utah doing interior design, skiing at Snow Basin, and traveling.
Sondra’s expertise is rich with 25 years of interior design experience, plus 20 years of floral design with Carols Design House. She has been a furniture and accessories buyer for both Carols Design House and the former L & L Interiors, traveling to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Dallas and High Point markets.
Sondra’s abilities cover both residential and commercial projects. She has participated in Boise’s Parade of Homes over the years, as both a judge and a designer, where homes in which she did design work took People’s Choice and Best Interior Design awards. She has worked with various builders and architects in the valley, as well as landscape designers.
Relishing in other cultures, Sondra brings a cosmopolitan eye to her design work by using artistic elements she has appreciated while traveling abroad to St. Petersburg, Rome, Madrid, Tokyo, Sydney, Oslo, London and Johannesburg. "I encourage a collage of cultures in a home – be it columns, Persian rugs, African beads hung from lamps, Chinese screens, bronze statuary, French chests," Sondra says.
"I have memories of three special projects that make me smile," Sondra notes. "One is doing design work for The State of Idaho Capitol Building during 2002-2004, where I used royal blue, crimson red and gold in furniture, artwork, window and wall coverings with patriotic awe!! Second was working with Harris Ranch owners in selecting color concepts for their expanding development – and third was teaching interior design in Africa!"
Sondra has a BA degree in communication with a minor in art/interior design. She and John have a blended family of nine children and 31 grandchildren.
