At age 10, Linda would eagerly await the Sunday LA Times because it always featured a new house plan to study. Her allowance bought house plan magazines that she would nearly memorize. She went on to devour every home design book and magazine the libraries offered.
At age 16, a friend’s mom asked Linda to design her daughter’s bedroom. For the next 20 years, the room stayed true to Linda’s original sketches -- a monument to 60’s Retro. In the 1980’s and 90’s, Linda became involved in construction, where she added pragmatism and perspective to design vision. By 1993 her knowledge and drive had become a full-time design profession. She passed the stringent NCIDQ (National Council for Interior Design Qualifications) exam in 1994 and obtained Professional Membership in the American Society of Interior Designers in 1996.
Linda has specialized for many years in home remodeling, the original “green” building. Her work with Strite Design + Remodel, both as an independent and then in-house designer, helped make it one of the top remodeling companies in the country. An equal passion remained in the finishing of the space – the flooring, window treatments, furniture, art and accessories to complete the vision. Past associations with Nadine Miller, Les Bois Interiors, Armstrong Planning & Design and the Idaho Design Center gave her experience and resource knowledge.
Linda values her other roles over the years: mother, pet owner, businesswoman, gourmet cook and home manager. She believes each has given her invaluable insight into how a home best serves the life in it. Her design repertoire includes historical preservation, custom homes, offices, cabinetry and lighting design. She has designed specialty spaces for quilting, wine, gyms, offices, daycare, clubhouses, and barrier free – even ski and bike tuning! Along with all things design, she studies and monitors closely the products and issues pertaining to sensible and sustainable design and development.
Linda is an active member of Toastmasters International and speaks often about design, especially Color, Kitchens & Baths, and Remodeling. Linda’s projects have won several local and national NARI awards. In 1996, she was selected by Andersen Windows for a national remodeling campaign, her work then appearing in House Beautiful, Sunset, and many other publications.
An art major in college, Linda often utilizes her illustration and drafting skills to foster understanding and accuracy during all phases of a project. From a whole house design to the selection and placement of an accessory, she brings discernment, taste and knowledge from a lifetime of following her bliss.
She still finds joy in studying a house plan, but Linda’s greatest thrill is now found helping others live more joyfully – by helping them achieve personalized comfort, beauty and value in their environments.
